Suomi.fi Messages is a reliable and secure way to communicate with public administration and other organisations using the service. You can use Suomi.fi Messages via a mobile application or a web browser on a PC or mobile device.
When you activate Suomi.fi Messages, mail sent by all organisations using Suomi.fi Messages will be sent to you electronically. You can also receive decisions, invoices, appointment information and other documents in Suomi.fi Messages.
Notifications about new received messages will be sent to the email address you have provided. If you have installed the Suomi.fi mobile application on your device, you will also receive push notifications about new received messages. However, Suomi.fi Messages cannot ensure that notifications will be received in all cases, so remember to check Suomi.fi Messages regularly.
You can also send messages and attachments to the organisations allow sending of messages via Suomi.fi Messages. The maximum size of the attachments is 10 Mt in total.
Organisations that have not activated Suomi.fi Messages will continue to use their own electronic messaging system or send data by email or paper mail.
Suomi.fi Messages is intended for communication between an organisation and an individual or between an organisation and a company.
The contents of the messages are transmitted to the recipient in a secure manner, and the content of the messages is intended for the recipient alone, unless the recipient has specifically authorised another person to read the messages.
When you activate Suomi.fi Messages, you give your consent for messages sent by all organisations using Suomi.fi Messages to be sent to you in Suomi.fi Messages.
After you provide consent, the organisations using Suomi.fi Messages will send you normal messages and messages that require confirmation of receipt. Messages can include decisions, invoices and appointment information.
Please note that
not all public organisations use Suomi.fi Messages, so you will still receive some of their messages by paper mail
after the activation of Suomi.fi Messages, the Finnish Tax Administration will send all mail electronically
you can return to using the services by paper mail at any time.
Some organisations may send some mail electronically to Suomi.fi Messages and some by paper mail. For example, you may receive a municipality's decision on ECEC electronically, but the same municipality’s invoices will still be sent by paper mail.
This is because organisations have independently determined the transactions with them that can be handled via Suomi.fi Messages.
