What are mandate specifiers and what are they used for?
There are two types of specifiers:
- specifiers limiting the powers of the mandate
- specifiers targeting the powers of the mandate. The specifiers targeting the powers are used by agent companies, such as accounting firms, when they allocate mandates to represent to their employees for individual customer relationships.
The assignor can use a limiting specifier to limit the powers of the mandate, for example, to apply only to an individual property, department of an organisation, or contract. The mandate theme determines how each mandate can be limited. Not all mandate themes can be limited with a specifier.
In addition to limiting mandates to represent, a limiting specifier can also be used to limit the right to grant a mandate. For example, the specifier sub-organisation ID may be used to limit the right to grant a mandate to apply only to certain units or departments in the organisation granting the mandate.
You should only use a limiting specifier after you have received more detailed instructions on the service in which the mandate will be used. Specifiers are not compulsory, and you may also grant a mandate without a specifier.
A specifier targeting the powers of a mandate to represent can be used in all mandate themes. When using a targeting specifier, the value that you need to give is the unique identifier of the agent company’s customer. This is the customer’s business ID or personal identity code. If you leave the space for the specifier targeting the powers of a mandate to represent blank, the assignee who has been granted the mandate to represent can without restrictions act on behalf of all the agent company’s customers in the matter concerned.
