Safety and freshness of food is supervised by monitoring the production and distribution of food products. Food quality control in Finland is based on self-checks by companies and the effectiveness of the checks is supervised by the authorities. The supervision is the task of municipal or wellbeing services county's health and food inspectors and veterinarians.
