Child care by keyword day care

Local authorities are responsible for providing day care for all children under school age. When the parental allowance period ends, the parents are entitled to day care for their child in a day care centre, family day care or group family day care. Local authorities also supervise private day care providers.

The day care fee is determined by the family’s size and earnings. Low-income families are not required to pay any fees. Local authorities and Kela can provide advice on financial support for families.
