Environmental compensation is an aid aimed at reducing the environmental load of agriculture. Environmental compensation is based on a five-year environment commitment that includes farm-specific and plot-specific measures.

You can apply for a five-year environmental commitment in the Vipu service in May–June when applying for field subsidies.

To whom and on what terms

You can receive compensation if

  • you are at least 18 years old
  • you are an active farmer
  • you have at least five hectares of cultivated area that is eligible for compensation or are growing at least one hectare of horticultural plants
  • you comply with the commitment terms of the environmental compensation
