Workplace Swedish Training is a language training tailored to the needs of the company and its personnel with a foreign background, which promotes the Swedish language skills related to the profession and tasks.
The objective of the Workplace Swedish Training training is to enhance the capacity of the company's personnel with a foreign background to cope with their everyday work tasks in Swedish. In the training, the content of language instruction focuses on, for example, the professional vocabulary needed in the tasks, the communicative situations encountered at work, the customer service situations or, for example, the company's occupational safety material or other material.
Workplace Swedish Training is included in the Talent Boost Finland service package that supports companies to connect with international talents.
The training is tailored to the needs of the company and the trainees. The objective, content, duration, and method of implementation of the training will be agreed upon with the employer.
The Workplace Swedish Training is equally suitable for the needs of small, medium, and large enterprises. The public sector – the state, municipalities, joint municipal authorities, and parishes – can also use the service.
The Workplace Swedish Training can flexibly be used at different stages of the company, especially when changes occur in the company's operations that require the professional competence of the entrepreneur and/or the company's personnel to be updated. The Swedish at the Workplace training can be implemented in the form of Targeted Training, Recruitment Training, and Change Training.

- Contact your local ELY Centre or TE Office.
- Preferably use the electronic form. If this is not possible, use the printable form “Työnantajan esitys yhteishankintakoulutuksesta (TEM607)” (Employer's proposal for joint procurement training, available in Finnish and in Swedish).
- Send the form to your local ELY Centre or TE Office.
- A representative of the Employment and Economic Development Office will assess your personnel's training needs and prepare a preliminary training plan.
To whom and on what terms
As a rule, the minimum duration of a Workplace Swedish Training is 70 lessons (45 min per lesson). However, the minimum duration can be adjusted to meet the specific needs of the company. The training is divided in parts according to the needs of the company, taking into account the objectives and duration of the training. A typical schedule is between two and four lessons once or twice a week.
The service is discretionary and subject to a fee. The employer and the employment and economic development administration provide funding for the Workplace Swedish Training together. The employer's contribution depends on the size of the company and its turnover or balance sheet. The company's contribution is 30% to 50% of the total price in Targeted Training, 30% in Recruitment Training, and 20% in Change Training.
A fee is charged for the service.
