Background information

Vaccinations prevent infectious diseases. The vaccinations included in the national vaccination programme are voluntary and free of charge. Vaccinations for children under school age are administered at child health clinics. Vaccinations for school-age children are provided by school health care services, and for students by student health care services.

Health and social services centres provide advice on vaccinations for tourists as well as the necessary vaccinations. A separate fee is usually charged for any vaccines not included in the vaccination programme.
