If it has been some time since your last health examination, if you are worried about your health or if you need an assessment of your ability to work and rehabilitation needs, you can ask for a referral to a health examination.
You can access a health examination through a referral from the TE Office, Central Ostrobothnia TYP (multidisciplinary joint services for the promotion of employment) or from the social services. In Perhonjokilaakso and Lestijokilaakso, health examinations for unemployed persons are carried out by appointment in a separately agreed upon unit.
Background information
An unemployed person’s health check usually includes the measurement of their body mass index and blood pressure, as well as certain laboratory tests. An important part of the check is discussing issues related to the person’s health, mental health, functional capacity, lifestyle and possible symptoms. In the health check of an unemployed person, particular attention is paid to factors that may affect their life management and work ability.
The person carrying out the health check provides instructions on suitable nutrition, exercise and self-management. If the check reveals any need for further examination or treatment, the patient will be referred to the appropriate party. Any need for rehabilitation that could strengthen or restore the person’s work ability can also be noted during the health check.
If you wish to participate in an unemployed person’s health check, contact your local health and social services centre.
