Temporary protection closure of a land area

A land owner can propose a site for protection under the METSO Programme for conservation purposes. The ELY Centre may also propose closure, for example, to protect a breeding site of the Siberian flying squirrel.

If the site is deemed suitable for protection, an agreement is concluded and appended to the cadastre.

To whom and on what terms

In order to use the service, you will need the cadastre ID of the site in question.

Further information about whether your site is suitable for a protection closure order is available from the Metsonpolku online service and the website of the Ministry of the Environment.
