Suomi.fi e-Authorizations for acting on behalf of another person

  • Service
  • Nationwide
  • Public service

Using Suomi.fi e-Authorizations, you can authorise another person or a company to act on your behalf in the matters that you have specified. You can use Suomi.fi e-Authorizations, for example, to create a pharmacy authorisation, which authorises another person to purchase from a pharmacy your prescription medicines.

A mandate means that you have given a person or a company the right to act on you ...

Do the following

Log into the Suomi.fi online service using your personal identification tool (such as your online banking IDs). Select the Authorisations section from the service’s menu. On the front page of the e-Authorizations service, select Personal mandates as the service role and proceed to grant a mandate or request a mandate.

To authorise another person to act on your behalf, you need to know their name and personal identity number. You must also know the person’s name and personal identity code when seeking to request from them a mandate, i.e. permission to act on their behalf.

If you want to authorise a company to act on your behalf, you must know the company’s name or business ID.

Public Service Info provides guidance on the use of e-Authorizations by phone, email, text message and the contact form. Instructions are also available in the Instructions and Support section of the Suomi.fi online service.

To whom and on what terms

You can authorise another person to manage matters on your behalf in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations if you are an adult and legally competent, and you have a Finnish personal identification number or a valid and validated foreigner’s identifier (UID).

You need to log into the Suomi.fi online service to grant a mandate independently. You can identify yourself with your personal banking IDs, mobile certificate, certificate card or the Finnish Authenticator application.

If you cannot log into the Suomi.fi online service and grant mandates independently, the person you have selected as the assignee can submit a mandate request to you in the Suomi.fi online service. You can accept the mandate request at a service location of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.

If you are not able to visit a Digital and Population Data Services Agency service location in order to approve the mandate request, you can submit an electronic mandate request either yourself or together with your assistant on the Authorisation with an application page. Your assistant may be either the desired assignee or some other person.

If you are aged under 18, you cannot grant mandates in the Suomi.fi online service. This is because a person under the age of 18 is considered legally incompetent and cannot authorise other persons to act on their behalf. A guardian is responsible for their underage children. The guardians of a person aged under 18, who have been entered in the population register, can jointly authorise each other or a person of their choice to manage the minor’s matters on their own if the child does not have a non-disclosure for personal safety reasons.
