Submitting food supply chain data to a slaughterhouse

The obligation to provide food supply chain data concerns all slaughtered animal species except for natural game animals and fish. Food supply chain data means information that a primary production operator must send to the slaughterhouse from the primary production premises when animals are sent to the slaughterhouse for slaughter. Do the following

Primary production operators shall provide slaughterhouses with the following food supply chain data on each animal batch:

a) Conditions at the primary production premises of the animal or animal batch, health status of animals in the area, and information on whether pig premises have officially been recognised to comply with the controlled housing conditions for Trichinella

b) Health of the animal or animal batch sent for slaughter

c) Any medication, feed, medicated feed or treatment with a withdrawal period given to the animal or animal batch sent for slaughter

d) Occurrence of such diseases at the primary production premises that can affect meat safety

e) Analysis results on samples taken from the animals or on samples taken to diagnose diseases that can affect meat safety

Appropriate data on the results of previous ante and post mortem meat inspections from the same primary production premises, including especially any data issued by the veterinary inspector

g) Production data that can reveal the occurrence of a disease

h) Name and contact information of the veterinarian whose services are normally used by the primary production premises

i) For poultry included in the salmonella control programme, the time and inspection results of the municipal or supervising veterinarian’s latest inspection visit, and data on the time and results of the latest salmonella test

j) Mortality rate during breeding for the batch sent for slaughter

k) For poultry, the date of arrival at the primary production premises, the size of the arriving batch and the origin of the birds (name of the hatchery).

In addition, the following data shall be submitted for all animals:

l) Order to take samples from an animal or animal batch sent for slaughter due to a diagnosed or suspected animal disease.

Other issues

Data on other possible issues that can have a harmful effect on food safety must be submitted on all animal species from the last 12 months or more if necessary.

For example:

- contamination of animal feed, drinking water or pastures

- occurrence of pathogens at the primary production premises in animals of another species than those sent for slaughter

- microchips injected into animals.
