The job of the student welfare psychologist is to provide support for the mental welfare and ability to study of students in upper secondary schools and vocational colleges. Psychologists offer confidential, discussion-based support that is readily available, with issues such as:

• worries about mental well-being (such as depression or anxiety)

• stress, coping and sleeping issues

• crises

• identity and self-knowledge

• problems with personal relationships

• problems with studying

Students can book a meeting themselves or be referred to a psychologist following a contact from a school staff member or parent. The psychologist cooperates with the staff of the educational institution and, if required, refers the student to other support services with the student’s permission. All psychologist services are voluntary and free of charge for students.
