Start-up support for young entrepreneurs

  • Service
  • Nationwide except the Åland Islands
  • Public service

As a reindeer farmer, you can apply for support for investments that are necessary in reindeer husbandry to boost efficiency, improve quality or help adapting to new circumstances. You can also apply for building aid to improve the housing conditions in facilities used in reindeer farming or a natural means of livelihood. In addition to private entrepreneurs, reindeer herding co-operatives may also apply for support for investments and fence maintenance.

You can also apply for a state guarantee for reindeer husbandry and natural means of livelihood. This was not possible before. A state guarantee can be granted for the construction of a production building, acquisition of reindeer (excluding the establishment of a farm) and housing construction.

The state guarantee is granted as a deficiency guarantee for a normal bank loan. The state guarantee can be up to 30% of the total funding of the supported measure. If the same entity receives some other support, it will be taken into account when deciding on the amount of the guarantee.

Do the following

The support can be applied for continuously. The applications are decided on by support periods, which are:

  • 16 January to 15 April
  • 16 April to 15 June

2 Check that you have the necessary rights to log in to the Hyrrä service in your organisation’s name or that you have given another person sufficient rights to act in your organisation’s name in the Hyrrä service.

3 Complete the electronic application and attach the necessary attachments. Business plan must be attached to the application.

4 Sign and submit the application for processing.

To whom and on what terms

Start-up support can be granted to first-time farmers under the age of 41. Applicants must have sufficient vocational skills. If the vocational skills requirement is not met at the time of application, the support can only be granted if the applicant commits to fulfil the requirement within 36 months after the support has been granted.

A business plan is a prerequisite for the support. The implementation of the business plan must start within nine months since the support has been granted.

The service is free of charge.
