Reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses caused by job seeking

At its discretion, the TE Office or local government pilot reimburses travel and accommodation expenses caused by job seeking trips and participation in the TE Services.

Do the following

Once you have participated in a job interview or service, you have one month to apply for compensation.

Complete the form and send it to the TE Office or local government pilot.

You don’t need to attach receipts of the travel expenses to the application, as the amount of the reimbursement is 0.21 euros per kilometre. The amount of own contribution is 12 euros and the maximum reimbursement is 200 euros per trip.

Accommodation is reimbursed on the basis of the realised expenses but not more than 80 euros per day. Attach a receipt and a copy of the realised expenses.

The TE Office or local government pilot can contact the employer and check the information related to the job interview. If you do not wish the TE Office or local government pilot to contact the employer, attach a certificate of your participation in the job interview in your reimbursement application.

To whom and on what terms

In order to be eligible for the reimbursement of job interview-related travel and accommodation expenses you must be an unemployed job seeker with the TE Services.

You can apply for compensation for the costs of a job interview if you have a job interview in Finland or an EU country. The work for which you apply lasts at least two weeks and the average working hours are at least 18 hours per week. The accommodation expenses can be compensated if staying overnight at the interview location is necessary due to transport connections. In addition, paying compensation is appropriate for your employment.

In addition, the TE Office or local government pilot will assess how easily and from which distance a suitable employee for the job could be found.

In order to be eligible for the reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses related to the services you must be an unemployed job seeker with the TE Services.

Costs can be reimbursed if you

  • take part in an admission event or an aptitude test for labour market training,
  • will familiarise yourself with the educational institution providing labour market training before the start of the training so that you can check the accessibility and other suitability of the educational institution due to a disability or illness, or
  • visit a TE Office or an office of a local government pilot, your visit is considered necessary and you need transport services due to a disability or illness, or you participate in an expert assessment organised by the TE Services.
