  • Nationwide except the Åland Islands
  • Public service

A subsidy to reduce the transport costs of small and medium-sized enterprises in sparsely populated areas.

Transport aid promotes SMEs in sparsely populated areas by reducing the cost burden of long journeys. Subsidy may be granted for the domestic transport charges for the products manufactured by the company. Subsidy may also be granted for port operations related to the shipment of the products under the terms laid down by the Decree. Transport subsidies are regulated by the Government Decree regarding regional transport subsidies for 2020-2022. The provisions laid down in the Act on Discretionary Goverment Transfers (688/2001) also apply.

Do the following

Apply for the transport subsidy electronically from 1 January 2021 on the regional administration e-service. You can log in to the regional administration e-service using Suomi.fi service. In Suomi.fi e-Identification, a company representative is identified with a personal banking ID, a mobile certificate or a PRC citizen certificate. For more information on the e-service, please contact Yritys-Suomi's telephone service. All transport aid applications are processed at the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Northern Ostrobothnia.

Before submitting the application, it is recommended that you contact an expert at the ELY Centre, especially when applying for transport subsidy for the first time.
