Public aid for a special site situated on a private road

Public aid can be granted for special sites that qualify for government assistance, including

  • ferry crossings of private roads
  • temporary annual bridges
  • winter and ice roads

For ferry crossings, ice roads replacing ferry crossings in winter, and temporary bridges, the maximum assistance is 80% of allowable operating and maintenance costs.

Do the following

Use the form “Public aid for the improvement of private roads” and include a statement of costs. Enclose with your application the private road cooperative's

  • income and expense vouchers
  • profit and loss account
  • asset and liability statement
  • minutes of meetings
  • auditor's statement

Send the application to the ELY Centre of Pirkanmaa (Kirjaamo, PL 297, 33101 Tampere or email: The application must be submitted by the end of February in the year following the claim year.

To apply for payment, send your application as an attachment to the ELY Centres’ general form for private individuals and address it to the ELY Centre of Pirkanmaa. You can also send the form by post to the KEHA Centre (KEHA-keskus, Keskinen maksatusalue/Yksityistiet, PL 136, 33101 Tampere).
