When it comes to concerns about a child’s mental health you can contact via the Family Phone. When it comes to mental health in families with children, you can also leave a request to be contacted via the Help Button. When it comes to a concerns about an adult’s mental health you can contact via the advice and assessment phone for adult psychiatry. In an emergency, call the medical helpline or the emergency social services.

Psychologists can help in many crises in life and when one needs different kinds of assessments or support in the daily life. Psychologists can help for example when you need:

  • an assessment of a learning ability or the ability to work or of the possibilities rehabilitation may offer you
  • support concerning a child’s or an adolescent’s development or upbringing
  • support in crises in life, for problems in relationships, problems with mental health or support for physical illnesses
  • a possibility to think about and develop one’s personal ways of thinking and acting and to learn to understand oneself better
  • assessments on and treatment of brain-related dysfunctions e.g. with speech, memory or perception.

Central tasks psychologists have are doing psychological assessments and exams, giving psychological treatment and rehabilitation, consultations and sharing psychological knowledge in teams that plan treatment and rehabilitation for clients. Psychologists work in different specialties as part of multiprofessional teams in both social services and in health care services. Patients are referred to psychologists from different outpatient clinics or via the service processes in different teams.
