When you need an appointment to see a nurse, contact your health station.

When you need an appointment to see a nurse, contact your health station. When you contact your health station, your situation is first evaluated by a nurse, who directs you to appropriate care. On the basis of the evaluation made by the nurse by telephone, the nurse may give you home care instructions, an appointment to see a nurse, a physical therapist or a doctor, or a telephone appointment with a doctor or a nurse.

To whom and on what terms

The service is only for citizens of Helsinki.

Background information

A nurse may provide health advice, care for wounds, remove stitches and give vaccinations. If necessary, the nurse can refer the patient to a doctor.

Non-urgent treatment must be provided within certain set periods. In daytime on weekdays, patients must be able to contact a health centre immediately either by telephone or by visiting the centre. Calls must be returned without delay, in practice on the same day.

The need for treatment may be initially assessed over the telephone, but the patient must be assessed within three days at the latest. The necessary treatment must be organised within a reasonable delay, which means no more than six months.
