Background information

The rescue department must be notified before the prescribed burning has been started. Burning arable land, logging areas or forest land is considered prescribed burning. Large scale burning of tree stumps, waste or leaves is also considered prescribed burning. The prescribed burning of forest land must be carried out under the supervision of professionals.

The prescribed burning must be permitted by the landowner. The person who lights the fire and makes the notification about prescribed burning is responsible for making sure that the fire does not spread from the planned burning area.
