Do the following
If you are planning on initiating professional or other large-scale keeping of pet or hobby animals, establishing a production farm of meat, eggs or breeding animals or a game management farm, follow these steps:
- Find out what requirements are set for the keeping of different animal species in animal welfare regulations. If necessary, contact your municipal veterinarian.
- Fill out the form “Notification about keeping or provision of animals”.
- Submit the form to the registry of the Regional State Administrative Agency in whose area the operation is practised.
- Be prepared to have your operation inspected by the local animal welfare authority.
- Keep up-to-date records on the animals that are used in the operation.

To whom and on what terms
All operations for keeping of animals must comply with the Animal Welfare Act and all regulations issued under it. An up-to-date list must be kept of the used species and animals.
