Good mouth and dental care is important and affects your wellbeing and general health. Self-care and a healthy lifestyle form the basis of a good oral health. Problems in the mouth and teeth increase your risk of getting arterial disease, such as infarcts in the heart or brain. It is important to have regular dental controls.
In Sipoo, mouth and dental care is provided at two service points. They are located in Nikkilä and Söderkulla, respectively.
Mouth and dental care personnel
- Work pairs consisting of a dentist and a dental nurse work in both Nikkilä and Söderkulla
- Dentists specialized in orthodontic treatment (dental braces) and oral surgery visit Sipoo to give consultations and have scheduled appointments. You will need a referral from a dentist in order to receive specialized dentist care.
- Dental hygienists are experts at mouth health care. Their task is to follow up with the patients’ dental health and to promote it. They guide patients and give them advice on how to maintain good oral health and prevent oral diseases. In cooperation with dentists, they also treat early-stage problems in the mouth and provide dental care during rehabilitation.
Do the following
For adults, an individual time interval between treatments is established after a dental check-up. Adult patients must make an appointment themselves by calling the dental care appointment number. If dental care is especially important due to the patient’s systemic disease, please make sure to mention it when booking an appointment.
All children aged 1, 3 and 5 will be called in for a dental check-up.
Schoolchildren on grades 1, 5 and 8 will also be called in for a check-up. While attending other grades, and after grade 8, the pupils must make the appointments to both dental hygienist and/or dentist themselves, according to an individual dental care plan made by a dentist.

To whom and on what terms
Dental care in health care centers is provided according to an assessment of the patient's need of care.
Sipoo organizes dental examinations and treatment for municipal inhabitants within the treatment time guarantee. You have the right to receive urgent dental care regardless of your place of residence.
Dental health care is also a part of school and student health care. Dental health care provided as school and student health care comprises also orthodontic treatment (braces).
A fee is charged for the service.
Municipal mouth and dental care is free of charge for all children and young people under 18 years of age. Patients over 15 years of age must pay a penalty for uncanceled appointments.
Oral health care services include include the examination and treatment of oral and dental illnesses, health advice and health checks. If necessary, the patient is referred to further examination and treatment.
Oral healthcare services operate in cooperation with specialist medical services, other healthcare services and social welfare services.
