When the treatment of a mental health services client is not sufficient and the client needs social rehabilitation or housing services in accordance with the Social Welfare Act, the client can seek out services from the social services for persons undergoing mental health rehabilitation (the so called mieku team). Background information

Social rehabilitation is intensified support that strengthens the social capabilities of persons in need, prevents their exclusion and promotes their inclusion.

The rehabilitation process includes determining the person’s need for support and seeking the most suitable services for them. For example, support is available for coping with everyday activities, life management and interacting in relationships. Social rehabilitation for young people assists them in finding employment or work try-outs, education, workshops or rehabilitation and provides support to help them remain engaged in their studies or work.

Social rehabilitation can be offered in various ways. Associations are also active organisers of social rehabilitation services.
