Integration training for immigrants

The aim of integration training is to help you acquire sufficient

  • linguistic,
  • social,
  • cultural, and
  • life management skills.

This will enable you independently to carry out daily routines such as shopping and dealing with authorities, to enter employment or take up skills development training or professional studies.

If you are wondering whether you can take part in integration training, contact the TE Office or local government pilot.

You can also find integration trainings in TE services' Search for labour market training online service (available in Finnish or Swedish).

To whom and on what terms

The TE Office or local government pilot will guide you to integration training if you are

  • an immigrant and have lived in Finland for less than three years,
  • at least 17 years old, and
  • unemployed job seeker or becoming unemployed.

The training must also correspond to your study skills and abilities and support your integration and employment goals.

The TE Office or local government pilot may advise you to take a language level test first before you are directed to integration training. Even though you may not speak Finnish or Swedish yet, the level test will assess what kind of integration training is best for you.
