Informal care support statutory days of leave (Elderly)

  • Service
  • Helsinki
  • Public service

An informal carer who has signed an agreement is entitled to two or three statutory days of leave per month. The arrangement of the leave is agreed upon with the designated informal care worker.

The leave can be arranged in several different ways:

- short-term care in the carer’s own or purchased service unit

- day activities

- substitute informal carers

- relief carers at the customer’s home.

With the exception of day activities, a service voucher can be granted for all of the aforementioned services, whereby the customer can select the most suitable service voucher producer.

A fee of €11.40 per statutory day of leave will be charged for all other leave arrangement methods (e.g. short-term care, partial day care, day activities). Leaves arranged with substitute informal carers and hourly relief carers are not subject to a customer fee.

To whom and on what terms

All informal carers who have signed an agreement are entitled to the statutory leaves.

The service is only for citizens of Helsinki.
