Hospital at home

Hospital at Home is specialized health care provided at the patient's familiar home with the patient's consent and to the degree the patient's condition and treatment methods allow. Hospital at Home care is appropriate for diabetics treated with insulin, patients with cancer, patients on intravenous antibiotics and erythrocyte transfusion and patients with cardiac insufficiency. Patients are referred for admission from the home municipality internal diseases hospitals, municipal health stations, the emergency services, the Turku University Hospitals or private doctors. The patient is a patient of the Turku Municipal Hospital during the treatment episode and if needed, the patient can be admitted to the hospital ward for treatment. Hospital at Home nurses visit on weekdays and weekends between 7.00 a.m. and 9 p.m. The doctor also makes a call when needed. If there are complications during the night, the patient can phone the Municipal Hospital Ward 27.
