Fishing licence application

Vessels that fish Baltic herring and sprat or cod must apply for a fishing licence from the ELY Centre before starting their operations.

Do the following

Fill in the printable application form (Fishing licence application) and send it to the registry of the ELY Centre for Southwest Finland by submitting it as an attachment to the general online form of the ELY Centre. You can also send the application by mail. ELY Centres’ contact information is available under Service locations. 

To whom and on what terms

Only such fishing vessels that catch Baltic herring and sprat or cod have to apply for the licence.

The service is free of charge.


Deadline

You must apply for the fishing licence before starting to fish.

Processing time

The ELY Centre for Southwest Finland makes the decision immediately after receiving the application.

Period of validity

The licence to fish Baltic herring and sprat is valid for 5 years. The licence to fish cod is valid for one year at a time.
