The City environment sector's Environment services collects the research data mainly through decisions, inspections, monitoring and supervision, which are mainly based on the legislation and various licences.
The materials cover a wide range of subjects, such was water areas, foodstuffs and housing health. The materials are also collected through separate reviews and studies.
The information produced by the operations of the Environment services is also converted into statistics and utilised to maintain various registries. Research is also carried out in cooperation with external parties, such as the university.
The results of the research work and studies have been used to develop and target the monitoring work as well as for presenting various measures for decreasing the possible environmental hazards caused by the operations. The results have also been utilised in preparing various programmes and strategies.
