Emergency placement of a child
- Public service
If a child’s health or development is in immediate danger due to home conditions or shortcomings in the child’s care, emergency placement of the child may be required. Placement may also be necessary when the child’s parents/guardians are temporarily unable to care for them or when the child is seriously endangering their own health or development. An emergency placement lasts for a maximum of 30 days and can be continued for a further 30 days, if the situation so requires.
