Background information

The 24-hour oral healthcare emergency services look after urgent oral health problems that cannot wait for the next weekday. You should go to the emergency services if you have an injury to your mouth, jaw or teeth that requires urgent treatment or if you have sudden swelling and cannot close your mouth. You should also turn to the emergency services if you have heavy bleeding after oral or dental surgery.

However, ordinary toothache and problems such as cracked teeth, which can be relieved with painkillers, are treated in the daytime on weekdays.

Urgent oral healthcare is available as 24-hour joint emergency services. The catchment area must organise the services so that unreasonably long distances to 24-hour dental care can be avoided.
