Chemical control

The purpose of the Rescue Department's chemical control is to prevent and avert the possible personal, environmental or property damages caused by the production, use, transport, storage or other handling of dangerous chemicals and explosives.

The rescue authorities work assignments related to chemical control are the control of industrial handling and storage of chemicals, including liquefied petroleum gas, the inspections of oil heating systems and the control of sales and use of fireworks.

To whom and on what terms

If the entrepreneur has established itself in another country in the European Economic Area and temporarily offers services in Finland, the same permits are required as from entrepreneurs established in Finland.

Background information

Anyone who is planning on handling or storing dangerous chemicals on a large scale must notify the local rescue department before commencing the operation. The notification must be made of chemicals that have been classified dangerous due to a health or environmental hazard, or a physical danger.
