Background information

In certain situations, the patient may receive at-home hospital care. The treatment is planned and implemented by a doctor. At-home hospital care is provided with the patient’s consent. The prerequisite is that the patient’s condition is stable enough and that the procedures required by the illness can be carried out at home. When planning at-home hospital care, the overall situation in the patient’s home and any other family members are also always taken into consideration.

At-home hospital services are an alternative to hospitalisation. They usually require home visits by the care staff or the patient’s visits to the hospital as planned and as indicated by their situation.
