Agreement on the reimbursement of special costs incurred for receiving refugees

  • Service
  • Nationwide except the Åland Islands
  • Public service

A municipality may be reimbursed for special costs incurred for receiving refugees. The costs incurred for special reasons are related to activities that promote the integration of refugees, and are usually substantial and unforeseeable (e.g. costs of social and healthcare services).

The ELY Centre concludes an agreement with the municipality on the reimbursement of special costs incurred as a result of receiving refugees, and based on the agreement the municipality may apply for state reimbursement for said costs.

Do the following

The municipality shall contact the ELY Centre by telephone or letter.

The ELY Centre will assist the municipality in the drafting of the agreement.

To whom and on what terms

As a precondition for concluding the agreement and receiving reimbursements, the municipality must have a valid agreement with the ELY Centre for receiving refugees and a plan for the promotion of integration (integration plan).

The service is free of charge.
