Tampere is the third largest city in Finland and the largest inland centre in the Nordic countries with more than 250 000 inhabitants. Tampere is the provincial centre of Pirkanmaa county. Together with its neighbouring municipalities, Tampere forms the second largest economic area in Finland, where more than 400,000 people live.

According to research, Tampere is the most attractive city in Finland and especially attracts students.

City services are organised into three service branches: education and culture services; growth, innovation and competitiveness services; and urban environment and infrastructure services. The city of Tampere is led by a mayor and three deputy mayors.

Tampere is known for its bold implementation and accomplishment of things and determined development. These are the roots of the City of Action. In the future, Tampere will work even harder for the equality, community, pioneering and more sustainable future of the residents.
