Work and unemployment

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment is responsible for the steering of labour market policy, the drafting of labour legislation, the development of working life, the promotion of employment and the services related to unemployment. The Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment and local authorities work to develop favourable conditions for working life in their own areas. The Employment and Economic Development Offices (TE Offices) are responsible for the services offered to the unemployed and people in employment, as well as to employers.
