Disclosure of personal data from the Population Information System

You can prohibit the disclosure of your data from the Population Information System on the Suomi.fi personal data page after you have turned 15. You can also remove the prohibition and allow your data to be disclosed.

On the personal data page, you can only prohibit the disclosure of your data from the Population Information System. If you want to prohibit the disclosure of your data from the registers of other authorities, associations or companies, you must contact the administrators of those registers.

Who will my information be disclosed to?

As a rule, Population Information System data is only disclosed to organisations that have been granted access permission by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.

Organisations in different public administrations use the information and also maintain the information in the population register.

Your information will also be disclosed to companies and other private parties. Companies use information from the Population Information System to e.g. update their customer registers.

For example, your religious information is disclosed to the Tax Administration. You do not need to notify the Finnish Tax Administration when you resign from a religious community because the matter is automatically considered in the taxation. The taxation of the year is determined based on the last day of the year preceding it
