Message requiring confirmation of receipt

A verifiable service, which is a message that requires confirmation of receipt, is a decision or some other document sent by an organisation that must be confirmed before the message can be opened. The confirmation of receipt is done by pressing the “Open and confirm message as received” button that is displayed when opening the message. Suomi.fi Messages sends an automatic mechanical confirmation to the organisation that sent the message including your confirmation of receipt and the time the message was received. A message is deemed to have been received by the recipient when its receipt has been confirmed.

A confirmation of receipt is most often required for messages that contain a decision, in which case the appeal period or another period involving a deadline begins at the time the message is received. A confirmation of receipt can also be used if it is necessary for protecting the rights of a person.

You can later check the time of your confirmation in both the message review view and the Inbox view.

A message delivered to Suomi.fi Messages that requires confirmation of receipt is comparable to a notification sent by an organisation by mail that requires a postal receipt at delivery.

If you have not confirmed the receipt of a message within seven days from the time the message was sent to Suomi.fi Messages, the organisation that sent the message is obliged to serve the decision or document by post against a postal receipt.
