Help with problem situations
Suomi.fi e-Identification works:
- On computers and mobile devices (phones and tablets)
- On the most commonly used internet browsers (for example, Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari)
In general, identification will not require you to change your browser or the browser settings.
Identification is not possible with old devices or browser versions the use of which involves information security risks.
Suomi.fi e-Identification may be experiencing a temporary interruption, which can prevent use of the service for a short time. Please, try again later.
Cookies may sometimes remain on your device if you close the browser window or tab during authentication or exit the service without logging out. When you try to identify yourself again you may receive an error message. The error is usually corrected if you leave the page and try again. If e-Identification fails, try the following methods:
- Clear your browser cache and remove the cookies. Then try to log into the service again.
- Try using the service on a different browser.
- Try using the service on a different device.
- Check your browser settings to ensure that you have not blocked all cookies. If you have, you have also blocked session-specific cookies without which Suomi.fi e-Identification will not work.
If you cannot get e-identification to work, it may also be because:
- you are using an old device or browser version that does not support the HTML5 features used by Suomi.fi e-Identification
- your browser's privacy settings or add-ons prevent Suomi.fi e-Identification from working
- you have not allowed JavaScript in your browser
- you have not allowed secure HTTPS data transfer in your browser.
You can clear your cache, delete cookies, allow session cookies, and check your browser settings for JavaScript and HTTPS.
- On a computer, the settings are usually found in the upper right corner of the browser behind three points or other menu items.
- On mobile devices you can clear your cache and cookies either through your browser or by selecting from the phone settings of your browser. What you have to do depends on your browser.

If necessary, you can ask for advice from Public Service Info or the digital support of your home municipality.
A person under guardianship can log into the e-services using their own personal identification tokens because Suomi.fi e-Identification does not receive information on guardianships. However, it is not possible to use the e-service if the e-service has prevented persons who are under guardianship from using the service.
When you use Finnish identification tokens, Suomi.fi e-Identification retrieves your information from the Population Information System of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. Suomi.fi e-Identification uses a single sign-on feature, which means that you can use several public administration e-services with a single identification.
Suomi.fi e-Identification uses an identification brokering service. The use of the brokering service will not affect the use of Suomi.fi e-Identification, as it is a technical background solution. Telia Finland Oyj provide the brokering service for Suomi.fi e-Identification.
