Essential cookies
Essential cookies are activated automatically when you start identification for an e-service. They help to
- ensure the technical functioning, security and usability of your identification
- examine error situations and to connect your feedback to a specific identification.
Cookies are not used for any other purposes. They are not used to identify individual users.
Most of the cookies are session-specific, which means that they are only valid for the duration of one identification or e-service session. However, some of the cookies will remain on your browser for one week. Use your browser settings to remove cookies from your computer.
Cookies for e-services using Suomi.fi e-Identification
You only need one identification to access a wide range of public administration e-services. Suomi-fi e-Identification uses cookies to relay details of the identification session and its duration to e-services.

The web service, Messages, e-Authorizations and the Suomi.fi application only use essential cookies, without which the services will not function correctly.
When you use Suomi.fi Messages or Suomi.fi e-Authorizations, your browser also saves the cookies of Suomi.fi Web Service and Suomi.fi e-Identification on your device. When you identify yourself into Suomi.fi mobile application, Suomi.fi e-Identification cookies are also saved on your device.
If you block all cookies in your browser, you cannot use Messages or Authorizations or check your register data.
Essential cookies
Essential cookies are activated automatically when you enter the Suomi.fi website. They ensure the technical functioning, security and usability of the services. In addition, the Suomi.fi map language selection is a necessary cookie that the National Land Survey's map service places in your browser.
Cookies are not used for any other purposes. They can not be used to identify individual users. Most cookies are session-specific, which means that they are deleted from your device when you close the browser. However, some of the cookies will remain on your browser for one week. Use your browser settings to remove cookies from your computer.
Monitoring of the service
We use the Matomo Cloud tool to analyze service usage without cookies. We use statistical data to monitor and develop the usability and quality of services. The data cannot be used to identify an individual user or linked to an individual person.
Links to other services
Of the third-party links in the services, only the pages linked to the Your Europe portal are used to transmit visitor information to the EU Commission via Matomo. The data is also available to the responsible persons in Finland. The information collected from the pages includes the URL address of the page, the number of visitors, the country of the visitors and the terminal device used. The collected data will be stored in the EU Commission's repository for a maximum of three years, after which it will be automatically deleted.
Social media links do not transmit information about you to these service providers. For example, cookies linked to social media channels are not saved on your computer when you use the service.
