Employees’ working capacity is evaluated on the basis of how they cope with the demands of the job. Coping at work can be promoted and improved by paying attention in good time to the physical and mental aspects of wellbeing at work.
Employers must ensure that the workplace is safe and healthy to work in. They organize preventative occupational health services for their employees. The employer can also choose to provide medical care and other health services.
Occupational health and safety promotes the wellbeing of employees and safety in the working environment and prevents occupational accidents and diseases. Employers are legally bound to monitor the working environment and any possible risk factors in it.
Occupational health and safety administration supervises the implementation of labour protection in workplaces.
Working capacity and wellbeing at work consist of many factors. In addition to age and how demanding the work is, they are influenced significantly by the atmosphere in the workplace, the right equipment for carrying out the work, correct working methods and the support networks and methods available to the employee. These help in improving job satisfaction and preventing occupational disability.
