Regional cooperation
There is also extensive inter-municipal cooperation outside joint municipal authorities and regional councils. The aim of cooperation at the sub-regional level is to secure development in all areas in the municipalities concerned so that the interests of the residents and business can be ensured. Sub-regional cooperation also forms the basis for closer cooperation that will result from the restructuring of local government and services.
Internet portals are an example of web-based sub-regional cooperation. They enable municipalities in one sub-region to provide both individual residents and businesses with joint online-services, information, and transaction platforms. The portals can also be used for sub-regional marketing and provision of information about events.
