Unemployment benefits

Unemployed job seekers are eligible for a basic allowance from Kela if meet the condition regarding previous employment. If the condition is not met, the job seeker may receive labour market support. A spouse’s or partner’s income is not taken into account when the basic allowance is paid, but is taken into account when labour market support is made available.

Earnings-related and basic allowance is paid for a maximum of 500 days. After this period, the job seeker can receive labour market allowance.

The long-term unemployed born before 1950 and meeting the condition regarding previous employment, are entitled to an extended allowance. After the extended allowance is over, the unemployed can seek Unemployment Pension.
