Survivors' pension
On the death of a close family member, a surviving spouse and any children under the age of 18 may receive a survivors’ pension. The immediate family’s livelihood is guaranteed either under the earnings-related pension system or by Kela.
An earnings-related survivor’s pension is calculated with reference to the gainful employment regarding the deceased’s spouse, mother or father. Kela’s survivors’ pension supplements an earnings-related pension. Both should be applied for on the same form.
