Safety on the road

Road safety can be improved by following regulations and using seat belts, helmets and reflectors. Seat belts save dozens of lives every year.

Speed has a major impact on the outcome of accidents. Consequently the speed limit in many densely populated areas has been reduced to 40 kph.

Road users can notify Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency about road conditions, maintenance, and traffic problems. Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency passes on information about traffic hazards and weather.
