Professional transportation and special transportation

Dangerous loads or loads requiring special arrangements are a feature of transport by road, rail, sea and air. Special consignments/wide loads are mainly the responsibility of transport companies. Permits for special consignments/wide loads for the entire country are issued by the Pirkanmaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.

Drivers of dangerous goods must hold a special ADR licence.

A safety plan is drawn up for consignments of hazardous substances by road or rail. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has produced a template for companies to help them make their own safety plan. A permit from the Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi) is needed to transport hazardous substances by air and sea.
