Maps and geographic information

Finland has been precisely mapped. The maps vary in a number of ways such as scale and purpose.

The National Land Survey of Finland produces topographic maps of the entire country. The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency ’s Road Map is a service for all road users that can also be browsed over the Internet.

Local authorities have guide maps of their own areas for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Map searches can also be used to check areas, measure distances and find information on basic services.

Making nautical charts in Finland is the responsibility of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency which produces traditional printed charts and CD versions. Charts are also available for inland waters.

Finavia is in charge of all mapping services required for aviation. It produces landing charts, aerodrome charts, and so on.
