Scientific research in Finland

Scientific research in Finland is concentrated in universities and state-funded specialised research institutions. The task of universities is to promote freedom of scientific research. Universities and research institutes endeavour to attain a level of science which is also high in international terms.

The Academy of Finland, TEKES and many foundations provide significant funding for research in Finland.

The EU also funds research within Member States. Scientific associations also promote research within their own fields and provide information on research projects in the scientific journals they publish.
