Student financial aid and grants

Student financial aid is granted for post-comprehensive school studies. The aid consists of a study grant, a housing supplement and a government-guaranteed study loan. Students can apply for financial aid from the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (KELA). Students may also apply for financial aid and scholarships from the local authorities, organizations and trusts. Students who are gainfully employed while at the same time receiving financial aid are eligible to earn up to a certain limit without forfeiting the financial aid. The incomes of parents or spouses may, in some cases, affect the financial aid.
