Vocational education

Vocational education is meant for young people and adults who are already in working life. It comprises vocational upper secondary education and training, and vocational further and supplementary education. Students can take vocational upper secondary qualifications as well as further and specialist vocational qualifications associated with vocational further education and training.

In vocational educational institutions, studies are directed towards the vocational upper secondary qualification. It is also possible to apply for vocational upper secondary education and training after completing general upper secondary education. Vocational special education institutions exist for students requiring support for special needs. Other vocational education institutions also provide special needs education. Vocational skills can also be obtained through apprenticeship training as well as through training provided by educational institutions.
