Banking services and investment

Everyday money matters are managed through the banks. Banks also offer loans and opportunities for investing money in securities or investment accounts. The state offers investment objects for consumers and investors.

In Finland, both loans and deposits are generally subject to variable interest rates. Loans are linked with a reference rate, for example, Euribor or the bank’s own prime interest rate.

The decisions made by the European Central Bank affect interest levels in Finland. Euribor is a reference rate for the money markets in the eurozone based on lending rates between the banks. The Finnish money markets are part of the eurozone money markets and the Bank of Finland is part of the European Central Bank system.
