Sports and outdoor activities

Local authorities have the responsibility for building and maintaining public sports facilities. Sports clubs arrange outdoor exercise and sports events. In Finland, everyman’s right lets anyone hike and pick wild berries and mushrooms in nature. Angling and ice fishing are not restricted, but a permit is required for other types of fishing. Landowners qualified to hunt and persons with a hunting licence may hunt during the Finnish hunting seasons.
